Namasté

A few performance connections were made last night at the Diwali Celebrations at South Hill Park after rehearsals. Whilst a longer account of the evening will follow, I thought I would post here a prayer that was said - performed even - in sanscrit by eight children. Here is the translation:

may we be protected
may we be nourished
please make us brilliant
let us not argue among one another
let peace prevail within us in the society
and in the whole universe

There was tremendous simplicity and peace to the quality of this offering and it did somehow connect with what may have happened in our rehearsal room earlier in the day and what had been created in Chris Goode's new piece, Hey Mathew, in Bradford at The Theatre in the Mill earlier in the week.

Both performative and non-performative qualities co-existed within each of the spaces made, crafted, created, discovered.

Om-shanti.
